A Sustainable Children's Line from a Design Expert

Birdie Lou is an online destination for handmade and vintage children’s clothing founded by Laura Mariani and named after her daughter Roberta Louise (Birdie Lou). All of its handmade clothing is crafted from natural or vintage fabrics. The handmade items are produced slowly and mindfully in Brooklyn, New York with a focus on comfort, simplicity and versatility.

For this project, I pulled from inspiration from French illustration and vintage textiles, evoking an elevated but well-loved feeling for this elegant children's brand.

Inspiration

As Birdie Lou mainly uses vintage textiles, some sourced from France, we wanted to go for a light and airy feeling that still felt playful but elegant. Hand-drawn illustrations and a vibrant color palette inspired by hues drawn from the fabric the brand uses add to this aesthetic.
